She called him a baby-killer

No - we're not talking memories of Vietnam here. We're talking about a young Marine who is here, now, just back from Iraq.

I was in the neighborhood store chatting and a young man came in. I don't know how it came about that he stated that he was a Marine and on leave from Iraq. It did come about though and I looked at him and told him, 'God bless you hon - and thank you'. He got a strange look on his face. The look disappeared when a neighbor and friend of mine - in the Army and on leave from Iraq as well - went up to him and shook his hand and slapped him on the back.

That's when he told us that a woman had called him a baby killer yesterday. I said, 'BABY KILLER?!' Yes he said. He tried to explain to her that he did not kill babies - he tried to explain to her that if it were her son over there she may not feel that way about him. I just told him, 'Bullshit - honey you shoot that weapon if anyone in Iraq threatens your life. Just shoot and shoot and shoot.'

I love a Marine.

God bless all of our men and women in the military. And thank you, too. We do love you - and we know that you are the best. We know that you care about innocent life and that you are not baby-killers.

Outrageous. Baby killer indeed. Why...if I got ahold of that woman she'd screaming for mercy.

A bad case of 'coming back to bite you on the ass'!

A private developer is seeking to take Justice Souter's home in Weare, NH so that a hotel can be built.

Take Souter's home with the newest, shiniest eminent domain power!

Too rich. The developer would like to build a hotel called the Lost Liberty Hotel. Here's a little piece of the article to whet your appetite:

"The proposed development, called "The Lost Liberty Hotel" will feature the "Just Desserts Café" and include a museum, open to the public, featuring a permanent exhibit on the loss of freedom in America. Instead of a Gideon's Bible each guest will receive a free copy of Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged."
Clements indicated that the hotel must be built on this particular piece of land because it is a unique site being the home of someone largely responsible for destroying property rights for all Americans."

He insists that this is not a prank and that if 3 of the 5 people on the Board of Selectmen vote to use the power of eminent domain, then he can go ahead with the proposed development.

Whoever this developer is - I think I love them. I will donate a bit of my egg money toward such a venture. It's a worthy cause and will possibly help to secure the Republic for future generations.

I first heard about this from a neighbor who heard it on Rush Limbaugh's show today. Then I saw it on Drudge.

Fighting Oath Breakers

It seems I am not the only one upset about the eminent domain decision handed down by SCOTUS recently. There have been several recent decisions that have bothered me - but the eminent domain decision alarmed the hell out of me. I guess I have awakened in a sense.

In my previous post I discussed some possible options. Here is another - brought to you courtesy of Tom at Mud&Phud. I joined the Castle Coalition and I hope that you do, too.

Join the Castle Coalition at this site. It is a way to get information and have our voice heard along with others of like-minded thinking on this subject.

I am very pissed off that our Constitution continues to be pissed upon by the very people who have given their oath to uphold it.

I'm just hoping it won't be too bloody.

Our Republic ie: We The People - is in danger. I am now quite alarmed. I am quite alarmed because of the Supreme Court ruling of what is an appropriate use of eminent domain.

Abe also introduced me to The Institute for Justice. At the time I said that I would have to add a link to them here. I am doing that tonight - over there on the sidebar. No sense in procrastinating any more.

We need to continue to raise our children as best we can, educate them ourselves, and work diligently to remain A Nation of Riflemen.

It is our right - and our duty - to arm ourselves.

Any other suggestions as to how we THE PEOPLE can exert our will? It's time to speak up. What are our options? Press our representatives for legislation? Work on changing at the local government level? Grizzly needs help here. I'm laying up the ammo.

You are a great daddy. Your girls love you with every bit of their being. I wish I would have had a daddy like you when I was a little girl. It's obvious you adore them. It's clear that they need you. So do I.

Terri Schiavo's autopsy report

The autopsy report is in.

It states in this news report: "The autopsy showed that Schiavo's brain had shrunk to about half the normal size for a woman her age and that it bore signs of severe damage." The person reporting this news states that the autopsy backs her husband's contention that she was in a persistent vegetative state.

Okay. Her brain had shrunk to about half the normal size.

I have to tell you about my paternal grandfather.

My grandfather died when he was 63 years old. I was about 5. Years later, I was told by his wife (my grandmother) that when they did the autopsy they found that one half of his brain was completely shrunk up to a little shriveled ball.

Due to an accident of some sort he couldn't taste anything for many years before he died. He was brain damaged.

He walked, he talked, he thought, he ate, he breathed. He was brain damaged though, in fact ONE HALF of his brain was gone.

Does brain damage justify starving a person to death? I realize there are different kinds of brain damage. No matter what kind of brain damage - does it justify starving a person to death?

There was a high level of function for my grandfather no matter that ONE HALF of his brain was GONE.

The autopsy showed no clear cause for her initial collapse. There are more questions now than there were before for me. I feel bad about it. I wish her husband hadn't starved her to death.

Grizzly Mama is Incorrigible

I quit my new job.

Yes I did.

Suffice it to say that Grizzly Mama is too old to stand for being treated like a child.

You do know that the state WILL take your kids.

This family is in hell right now. Their 12 year old daughter (and siblings) have been removed from the home because the parents QUESTIONED the doctors on what was appropriate treatment for her Hodgkins Disease.

She has received chemotherapy but the parents question the necessity of radiation therapy. The all-powerful doctors called in the Texas Child Protective Services. CPS proceeded to search the family's home with no warrant and then issued an Amber Alert and seized the little girl.

Texas must be some kind of hell. I've heard more horror stories about parental rights being violated coming out of Texas recently.

Here is their blog. Support them. They are doing the right thing for their daughter from everything I've read about chemo/radiation for HD.

Holy Mawy Mudda a God...

Prayers by a 4 year old. She also gets a big kick out of drawing out the word 'womb' and then laughing her ass off. ie: Blessed is the fwuit of dy wooooooommmbb, Jesus.

I think I will rot in hell because I do the same thing and laugh right along with her.

When my older one was that age she would start her prayers 'Lord Jesus, Heavenly Fun'. LOL!

I am a reluctant Catholic - born and raised. We didn't miss Mass unless we were certified dying. Every week - and even when we'd go camping up in the mountains we found a church to attend on Sunday. Most of it was terribly boring for me except that I loved to sing the hymns. I still do. Once a nun (back when the nuns wore penguin suits and sat at the back of the church and sang) gave me a teddy bear as she was walking up the aisle. I'm not sure why - perhaps I looked especially needy. I wanted to BE a nun for a little while but that didn't last long.

My oldest is in PREP class at the local Parish (we used to call it CCD). She had 1st Communion last year. We have interesting discussions about God and the Church and spirituality. I have some unconventional ideas about it all. Well - unconventional according to the Church. I have to specify that what I believe or question isn't necessarily the position of the Church. 'Now, don't go arguing with Sister about it at CCD', I tell her. They have a REAL Irish Sister there. I do love her but she doesn't take any crap off of anyone!

We don't attend Mass regularly but when we do go - I love it. The smells, the sights, the sounds, the tastes. It's the same no matter what Parish I find myself in.

So - when I'm feeling homesick or out of sorts it always helps to go to Mass. No matter how much I disagree with the Church (or agree - at times) I do realize that the basic belief is there because of my upbringing in the Church and it has sustained me in some mighty tough spots.

I want my girlies to have that strength to sustain them as they get older, too.

Grizzly's going back to work. AAAACCCGGGHH....

Holy Crap.

I mean, c'mon! Home with the kids for 4 years (and a year part time before that), old mainframe head - can't stand those client server network thingamajigs, getting up there in years. Criminy - who has a mainframe anymore?! I didn't expect to actually GET a job when I hit that send key...

But it's true. My husband recently lost the job that provided the medical benefits and in an offhand way I sent a hastily typed up resume out over the cables (see? I call them 'cables'..) and the next day I heard from 2 companies. The NEXT frigging day.

The one that panned out has full benefits from day one, halfway decent pay, 3 weeks paid vacation, 2 weeks sick leave, a very cool medical spending account that comes with a debit card for all those medical & dental expenses that aren't covered by insurance, life insurance for all, 8 paid holidays, a stable shift and schedule. Everything a Grizzly Mama could want, right?

Why am I so depressed and frightened? Of course it will be difficult educating the kiddies at home with both Mama and Papa working full time. I'm going to miss the girlies. Papa will have to step up to the plate to help with both school and housework. He's a bit of a slob.

Funny how it all worked out. The older ones last week of school is next week. The little one just finished up pre-school. We have a full summer to get into a new groove. The girls need to get used to Papa taking care of them. He has been working 12 hour shifts - 6 days p/week. It's been just me and my girlies out there doing our thing.

Our lives will be very different. I feel very grateful to have had the time home with the little ones that I have had. It will be good for them and for Papa to have some more time together.

What if I'm no good at what I do anymore???!!! Ohhhhhhh - I really hate starting new jobs. *biting nails*
