We are officially NOT home owners!!
Yeeeeeeee-HAW. It's a done deal. We stuck it out, hung in there through the tough times, didn't abandon the house like we could have (and like several people on our block did do), and we are rewarded with a nice little capital gain that will be put away until the housing market calms down.
The girls start choir practice tonight. They both have friends making the long haul to visit over the weekend. Mom-Mom has worked her magic with the curtains. My kitchen is organized and put away. Things are shaping up.
God Bless America. God Save the Republic!!

Woo hoo! I hope someone has told you to pay taxes on your gain to Pennsylvania now, because if you wait until April you'll be charged a penalty for not making estimated payments since January of this year, even though you hadn't sold the house yet. Oh, how I wish I were kidding.
That is so cool.. I am so happy for you guys. I mean it was a long haul from what you told us and glad its over.
Jana - we'll be calling our accountant tomorrow!
Tweetey - I am so glad it's over. It has been a hellish couple of months.
EXCELLENT!!
Yah!
Hey, there are no capitol gain taxes when you sell the house in which you have lived for two years. (Maybe over a certain amount.) Before you call your accountant, call irs and check for yourself and I'll be over for burgers!
Thanks CA - I thought that might be the case but I wasn't sure. They made a big deal about verifying that it was our primary residence and not used for business etc.
You are welcome for burgers anytime, CA! lol. They've got the most beautiful meat down the street at the country market - man! I never saw such fresh and yummy looking beef. There is also a stand up the road with all homegrown fruits and veggies, homemade pies and bread - it's a Mennonite family. There is another stand with fresh eggs - all so cheap and delicious. It's taking some getting used to - but I could definitely deal with this long term.
"sigh"
I hate the thought of moving but we will have to do it too sometime in the next 5 years!
The taxes will kill us if we stay here in liberal ass Washington well at least King County! Our home is up to 1/2 mil now! It was worth 65 in the 80's how did that happen?!
Ah well such is life!
Don't forget to see what happend to my soldier friends if you get a chance that is. Since you served as well you may know more on this idiot general and have something more to add. Thank you and God Bless.
I am trying my damnest not to curse so much but it is hard for me not to!
DCAT - I get to cussing when I start thinking too much about Wesley Clark. LOL. I'm sorry that he dissed them like that.
Part of the reason for our move (there were a ton of reasons - all adding up to no choice but move) was the insane taxes. I wish you the best of luck - sell high, DCAT! We don't know what the housing market is going to do over the next year or so.
I really hated moving. I'm still in shock that we decided to do this and then somehow pulled it off...
Well, it's good to hear you in such high spirits.
Hope it keeps up.
My parents returned from living about 17 years in Japan. Our house in Colorado they said is trashed. About $18,000 worth of repairs to be made.
I'm confunsionary, you're renting now? So it's sold anyhow, and pou're in the country - yay!
Terrible about the house in CO, Wordsmith! Were they renting it out?
Yes Dirtcrashr - we sold the rowhouse on the outskirts of Philly and it happened so fast that we didn't want to rush on buying. Plus the housing market is crazy with very small houses with no land going for over 1/4 of a million dollars. We're renting a gigantic farmhouse in Lancaster County for a year (possibly a bit more than a year). Troll has to commute, and if it's doable for him we will buy out here. If not - we will look closer in toward Philly and hope that the houses aren't so crazy expensive by then.
You have been tagged when you get a moment...
Lancaster County!!? I thought you were in Pottstown. Ya, got to email me and let me know where your at. I'm right on the border of Lancaster and Chester Counties round Parkesburg. I gave you my card at the Hugh Hewitt event but if you don't have that go to my blog and write to me from the email address there I won't post it here or I'll get spammed by ronulans or something.
Sounds like great news, Grizzy Mama!
Glad the hellish ordeal is over and that you are moved in.
