Totally Subjective Grizzly Report - 'Obsession' on FoxNews

Thank you FoxNews for airing this important documentary.

Some of the people interviewed:
Nonie Darwish, daughter of an Egyptian 'Shahid', and founder of Arabs For Israel.

Alan Dershowitz, Professor at Harvard Law School.

Steven Emerson, Executive Director of The Investigative Project.

Brigette Gabriel, Christian survivor of the civil war in Lebanon and founder of American Congress for Truth.

Caroline Glick, Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs at The Center for Security Policy

The late Alfons Heck, a former Hitler Youth Officer.

Khaleel Mohammed, Professor at San Diego State University. (A side note - Jihadwatch and Professor Mohammed have apparently gone at it tooth and nail in the recent past.)

My main man, Daniel Pipes.

Walid Shoebat, former PLO terrorist.

Khaled Abu Toameh, Palestinian journalist from the Jerusalem Post.

There are several others interviewed and they all combined to make a very interesting, if sobering, documentary on radical islam and what we Americans need to know about it.

After discussing it with Troll, I informed the girlies that I would be watching it, what it was about, and letting them know that they were welcome to watch it with me but they didn't have to. The girlies are quite sophisticated and we have had many discussions about some pretty heavy-hitting subjects. Radical islam and the War on Terror being just one of those subjects.

So we sat down with our bowl full of pistachios and a nut-cracker for the more difficult ones and watched with an open mind. I will point out that E.D. Hill said many times that, of course, the 'moderate muslims' are not what is depicted in this hour long look at the brutal truth. We are still searching in hope for 'moderate muslims' here in Philly - I haven't given up but my heart is starting to sink.

Anyhoo - some things that popped out at me and I jotted down were the many comparisons between Radical Islam and Nazism. There are quite a lot of similarities, the main one being the wish to eradicate Jews from the face of the planet.

Jihad (Inner Struggle) = Mein Kampf (My Struggle)

There was a part that dealt with the contradictory statements by some moslems. For example, Anjem Choudary Al Muhajiroun, who condemned 9-11 and then called the killers the 'magnificent 9' in a different venue. They used Yasser Arafat as an example of that, too.

The islamofascist terrorists are here in our midst. They want to make islam the law of the land. They call our Freedom of Expression a 'loophole'. A 'loophole', eh? It's much more than a 'loophole' to me and to all Americans. It is a God given right and men paid for the recognition of that right with blood. But you see how they view our most precious of freedoms. Brigitte Gabriel pointedly said that they are using our laws against us, and I believe that Nonie Darwish emphasized that as well.

Abu Hamza - that crazy hookhanded blind imam, has taught that the 'kaffir' (that's us...) are like cows. They view us as they view a cow, something to be sold or killed at their whim. He says, "It's okay!"

Ms. E.D. Hill questioned Wayne Kopping, the director of the movie, about coming up with the disturbing tapes from islamic countries' press. Well, she wanted to know how many hours did he have to view and was it difficult to find the anti-Americanism that they showed here. According to him what is shown here is just the tip of the iceberg. Are there no voices of moderation in these countries? The TV stations are all run by extremists in Arab countries and Iran. Alright, so I seem to recall an editor in an islamic country being jailed recently. Couldn't remember what for so I googled 'editor jailed mohammed' and 'editor jailed islamic' and, sheesh. There are just so many it's hard to fathom. Terrible.

Onward and upward. The 'root causes' of terrorism and the call to 'understand' them. Here is what there is to understand, according to our panel of experts, and in the words of the imams preaching to their flocks:

What do they want?
1. To kill Jews.
2. Another holocaust.
3. First the Jews, then the Christians, then the Buddhists, then the Hindus.
4. Islamization of the entire world.
5. Domination over other religions.
6. Domination of the world.

When it was over, the girls had quite a lot to say. I emphasized that not all moslems are islamofascist terrorists. (We have to remember that even just a small percentage of moslems being islamofascist terrorists is a hell of a lot of terrorists, though.) This attitude of hate and blame toward the West, Israel and America in particular, is out there and being acted upon by religiously driven preachers and their cult of death is being handed down to their children. There is a danger out there and that is why we are at war. We must be aware of it, support our leaders who are committed to fighting and winning this war, and not be afraid. The things in the documentary that bothered them the most:

1. Watching the American flag be trampled upon and burned.
2. The Statue of Liberty being portrayed as a skeleton in an Iranian commercial.
3. Sharon being depicted as a devil.
4. Small children talking about Jews as pigs and animals.
5. Small children glorifying being a suicide bomber.

I told them that Americans burn our flag as a protest and that it is not illegal. It is not something that I could ever do - but it is not illegal. The Iranian leaders and mullahs really hate the USA. They blame us for everything that is wrong in their society - yet see no problem with hanging a young lady for being a victim of a crime. We talked about how kids are taught in America that life is what is important. Life and love. The children in most islamic countries are taught that death is what they are to love. I am sure that this documentary will come up in conversation with the girlies over the next several weeks. These things always do. The girls will probably mull it over and pop out with some observation about it sometime in the near future.

The movie will be shown again on FoxNews at 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning. It will air again at 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Sunday evening. All times are Eastern Standard Time.

What we are facing is no small thing. I have been told that islamofascist terrorism is a figment of my imagination by several leftys out there. They are wrong.

Oh! The old Grizzly Mama was so engrossed in what she was doing that she forgot to give the hat tip to Mike's America because that's where I saw that Obsession would be aired. Thank you, Mike!

***UPDATE*** Mike gave the link to view the documentary on YouTube. It is in 5 parts starting here:

I wondered how the girls would react to the scenes of small children being taught to hate and love death.

It's scary to think that this is the world children living today will inherit if we fail to solve the problem.

What's most disturbing is that we do not see the faces of these crazy Muslims, or their voices on American television. It's like they don't exist in the mind of the American media.

I suppose that is easier than confronting the problem and also admitting that Bush was right and we need to do MORE, not less to win this war.

A while back I sent an email to the producers asking if they had a transcript. I wanted to get the statements that first Cleric made on Iraqi television before he started waving that sword around. His words in Arabic were a chilling reminder of the speeches Hitler used to give.

I hope everyone who has not seen this film gets the chance to do so.

That guy waving that sword around and screaming was intense - really wild. Foaming at the mouth kind of stuff. Yikes.

I hope that a lot of people see this too. Thanks for the comment Mike.

What a good mama bear you are! Mike is right, it's frightening to think of what kind of world our children will face when they become adults. It's so important for them to see the truth for us to try to meet this challenge and this danger so they won't have to further down the road.

Thanks for the heads up! I haven't seen ANY ads for this. Fox didn't do a real good job of promoting this show.

I've been researching Islam for a while now. The love vs hate thing is what really stands out for me. That, and the fact that they outnumber us. :(

I showed Obsession to my World History class, a small group of homeschoolers. A few parents attended as well. You should have heard the gasps!

An even better film: Islam: What the West Needs to Know. It contains some of the same footage. No Daniel Pipes, but lots of Spencer, Shoebat, and Trikovic. IWTHWNTK takes a slightly different tack and uses the Koran to show what those verses say. I haven't shown that film to my class, partly because of the length. Besides, Obsession makes a better starting point.

Of course, I have the DVD's of both the documentaries in my home library.

BTW, FNC is rerunning the special a few times today (Sunday, November 5).

Thanks Mike - I updated the entry with the link you provided.

Troll and I really had mixed feelings about letting the girls watch this without watching it ourselves first. FoxNews did a really nice job of showing the ugly truth without condemning all Arabs. The fact that we have a really good relationship with the girls and have talked openly with them about anything they brought up is what finally decided it. We have a long road ahead of us in dealing with this problem and the kids do have to know what we are up against.

I hadn't seen any ads for this either, tshsmom. I am so glad we saw it and I hope that you can see it this evening when it reruns. As one of the interviewees pointed out - even a small % of moslems being radical can equal hundreds of millions.

AOW - I remember that you blogged about showing the video to your History class. The girls and I were gasping at certain points too. This is an important film that every American needs to see.

Thanks for commenting y'all.

Thank you for an excellent article. I'll check the documentary out.

Remember the American Muslim man a few years back who lives in an east coast state who stabbed his daughter to death (while she screamed and pleaded for her life and the entire family watched) for wearing lipstick and blue jeans to be like her school chums? The neighbors heard the screams and called 911. When the dead girls sister was asked how she felt about the killing, she said the girl deserved to die for "shaming" her family.

And about so called 'Radical' islamists; the Muslim bible, the Koran commands, in Dinner Table,-[5.51] "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people."

It looks to me like that makes all Muslims "Radical."

PS---I wonder how long it will be before all non-Muslims realize it's time to take up arms and defeat the Muslims, either kill or convert them, before they kill us all. Scary, ain't it.

I do agree that the "scriptures" that Islam subscribe to do NOT preach peace. My preacher did a sermon on this subject last night and I have a copy of the Koran myself and have read much of it. There are many discrepancies and contridictions... "be nice to the people of the book", "fight against people of the book", etc. Which one is it?

BUT... I do not think that Muslims need to be wiped out militarily. They need to be kept OUT of this country, however. All that is happening is we are funding them through the pump and they are sending that money right back over here to build mosques. Only 22 percent of the Muslims in America were born here. That means that over 70% of them are IMMIGRANTS. Also... very soon, Islam will be bigger than Judaism in this country - second ONLY to Christianity. With the Jewish faith out of the way, who's next? And unlike the friendly bible tracts and potluck dinner invitations for Bible study... I doubt you'll be getting the same warm-fuzzies from those wishing for you to convert.

Right now in this country, our prisons have been infiltrated with jihadist literature and a great concerted effort to remove the Bible has stiffled prison ministries that aim to help prisoners become Christians and overcome their addictions and behaviors in a positive way. The literature they are now reading freely is spreading a jihadist viewpoint and our government seems to have no problem with that.

What Muslims feel is that if the West can not be won by up-front violent military attack... then eventually, it can be overcome from within by our stance on "freedom of religion" and our "political correctness" and our secular fear of Bible-Thumping Christians. But... when you consider the end result of a sneaky inside take-over job... and IF it becomes the largest religion in this country. Who would you rather have as a leader? A Bible thumping Christian or a radical Islamist?

CA - I am starting to wonder about that myself. I am still searching for those 'moderate' moslems though. I also wonder how far this is going to go. Will we be fighting in the streets?

Sprittibee - the 'Wahhabi Lobby' is active in this country. The scary thing is that the Saudi Wahhabists are doing all sorts of crazy stuff in our country - with our government's blessing. The prison system is only one area. The education system is another. Google Wahhabi Lobby. I also did an entry on this last year. It's unreal. As the interviewees mentioned they will attempt to use our own freedoms to slowly turn our country in the direction they want. We have to be very careful and very aware. We cannot succumb to political correctness and we cannot allow our 2nd amendment freedom to be infringed - - well, along with all of our other freedoms.

Thanks for the reminder Skye! Go Swanny!!!
