Gratitude

n. (L. gratus, pleasing: see Grace) a feeling of thankful appreciation for favors or benefits received; thankfulness.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We will be doing up the pies soon. Then off to that gorgeous dinner at Mom-Moms on the big day. There is just nothing like leftover turkey, is there? I also have a free turkey (earned with 'points' at the local supermarket..) in the freezer, and I will smoke that out on the Weber next week. The gravy comes so nice with my smoked turkey. Mmmmmmmm.

I feel that feeling of gratitude every day. Troll and I have been through some real hard times together. We made it. We're okay - - more than okay! We have worked hard in our lives and will continue to do so, God willing. No matter what, we know that we will have what we truly need. Here are some things that I am grateful for:

1. I am so glad to have been born an American.

2. My little family.

3. My friends.

4. All of the people in my life who are good. I know a lot of decent human beings.

5. My health, the health of my family members.

6. I thank God that the right to teach our children is recognized in the law.

I wish you all a beautiful and full Thanksgiving day. God bless you and God bless America.

We have so much to be thankful for--every day of the year. But it is fitting to pause on this special day and to remember just how blest we all are.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day!

Thank you for visiting and commenting AOW. You have a great Thanksgiving, too. It's nice you'll be able to take it easy this year. Me too! I am only responsible for the pies and the CoolWhip. ;-)

LOL, Monica, I'm in charge of the pies too. I'm finally sitting down to catch up while I have two pumpkin pies in the oven now.

Tomorrow I have to make my sausage apple dressing, and then that's it for me!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and God bless!

I tried making banana nut bread. I think Ellie May Clampett of the Beverly Hillbillies bakes better than I do.

I'd better stick to blogging.

Happy Thanksgiving Monica and Troll!!

P.S. I went to my Public Library today. And so far, no parchment mite allergy. :)

Surviving those hard times is what has made our marriages stronger. If only all newlyweds would realize this!
Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!

Mike - lol! I think people are either born bakers or not. I have always been a good baker. I'm a lousy cook, though. Troll will tell you! I am so glad you came through your library visit unscathed - lol. You are very brave! Thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes, Mike.

Just one problem with my library visit. I picked up the wrong volume of the Churchill history (there are six).

So I have to GO BACK!

Monica, Happy Thanksgiving Day. It is comforting to know there are uncompromising conservatives like you and Troll who help to maintain a balance in the blogosphere. May God bless your family daily.

Oh Mike - I am sorry. Maybe you'll grow to love the smell of all of those old books. ;-) Troll and I read a biography of Churchill last year by Geoffrey Best. It was a wonderful read.

Thank you Old Soldier. I hope that you and yours have a blessed day.

Wordsmith and DCAT - Thanks!! We had a great family dinner with lots of good food. (TONS of leftovers! Love those turkey sandwiches!) I hope that you had a great day, too.
