F.Y.I.

"Honor killing" of Islamic women in Western countries:

SecularIslam.org

Frontpagemag Symposium dedicated to Hatin Surucu, Berlin's latest victim of “honor” killing.

As of 2004, honor killings have occurred in numerous countries, including: Bangladesh, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy[4], Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Sweden, Turkey, Uganda and the United Kingdom. In Europe, honor killings have been reported within the Muslim and Sikh communities."

Although it appears that Sharia Law in Canada has come upon hard times - this man, according to this site and many others found during a search, is actively working toward Sharia Law in Canada.

A few bits about the 'Wahhabi Lobby"

On American tax dollars supporting radical islamic organzations is Daniel Pipes. (I support Daniel Pipes 100%, however if you have a negative reaction to him I am sure that you can find information about this issue elsewhere.)

Radical islam in our prison system - here, here, here, and here.

Saudi dollars are donated to American muslim schools and mosques. An expectation that the American organizations 'toe the line' in respect to Wahhabi beliefs is becoming apparent and textbooks donated to the schools contain the radical Wahhabi doctrine that is then taught to the youngsters. Here is an example of the debate taking place and here is some more information.

Nothin' for nothin' (as they say in Philly) but my advice would be to keep our eyes peeled and our ears open in America today! Watch those Saudi bastards.

Worse than that! The CIE (Council on Islamic Education) has presented a curriculum guide. Also, Susan Douglass, convert to Wahhabism, is a national consultant for social-studies textbooks published in the United States. She provides advice for all the major text publishers, including Glenco, MacMillan, Holt, etc.

Now, Grizzy Mama, you are a homeschooler. But watch out for insidious and romanticized information in all social-studies books, especially as your children grow older.

Mama,

Thanks for the links. I will read them in detail over the weekend. Just one thing; so far I didn't find any reference to the "radical Islam is being pushed in our public school system" you mentioned on ATW. Is there another link for that?

Thanks again,
Alan

P.S. It was so warm I got the grill out tonight. June in January.

I couldn't find it Alan. I know that I've read about it but it appears that AOW has seen the same information. (Thank you AOW - I have been going crazy trying to find that info - and thanks for visiting my blog!)

I will go find it and post a link if possible.

Enjoy your bbq! It's back to dull, chilly and dreary here with lots of fog tonight.

BTW AOW - I was happy to hear that you support homeschoolers.

As an example of how careful one has to be with books - I pre-read a book that my oldest was to read about the Bill of Rights. They had very interestig wording when it came to explaining the 2nd amendment. What I've decided to do is have her read the amendments as they are written.

Thanks again for visiting!

I REFUSE to use history texts; too much misinformation!
We're following history as it formed...from the dawn of time to the present. We study each culture as it forms and evolves. L and I are learning as much as Z is!

Sandy - that link was about the H5N1 avian flu virus! It was very interesting though.

It seems that they are starting to believe in the possibility that two cases of the flu were passed human-human. The evidence for that belief seems rickety at best but it is something we need to keep our eyes on. If it DOES mutate to pass from human/human we can start screaming about the sky falling etc..

What is the mortality rate for the avian flu? I think it was pretty high but then speculation began about the fact that they think many people get the flu and recover but may never report it.

Love it Sandy - and it's the damn truth. I guess the State Department doesn't want to put it in so many words - but it's the damn truth.

Sandy's link. Read it!

tshsmom - I was exceedingly angry when, as a young adult, I realized that my education in history completely SUCKED! My husband being a history fanatic helped to light that flame probably. We learn every day right along with the kids - it's quite an experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's wonderful to be a part of this process with the kids and I think they get a kick out of it too - seeing mom all wide-eyed and wondrous about something or other that we've all just learned....LOL!

GM,

Thank you for educating me on these subjects.

I particularly liked the references provided to documents by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the United Nations denouncing honor killings in western countries.

I agree wholeheartedly with the premier of Ontario, [Canada,] Dalton McGuinty, who said that religious-based arbitrations "threaten our common ground." He announced that "There will be no Sharia law in Ontario. There will be no religious arbitration in Ontario. There will be one law for all Ontarians."

As for the American tax dollars supporting radical islamic organzations,
While the major media have portrayed the president's faith based initiative as a pay-off to conservative Christians, a controversial Muslim group accused of having an association with an extreme form of Islam has also been getting federal funds.
says it all.

You've convinced me, along with the premier of Ontario, that all of these attempts to inject religious inititatives into our laws, our schools and our prisons should be halted immediately. It's amazing how the "efforts to integrate Muslims into the West" (as Daniel Pipes puts it) has increased the
need for organizations like Americans United for Separation of Mosque and State.

Tell it to the Department of State, Alan!

I appreciate what Bush was trying to do - however I believe that government should be smaller rather than larger.

Get the feds. out of the school business too.
