The Hound and the Hare.
A Hound chased a Hare for a long time. Then he came up to her and started first to bite and then lick her.
The poor Hare, not knowing what to make of his actions said, 'If you are a friend, why do you bite me? If an enemy, why caress me?'
Moral of the Story: Better a certain enemy than a doubtful friend.

That hound sound positively psychopathic! Just like friends that blow hot and cold, they can’t be trusted in times of crises. Machiavellians keep their friends close, but their enemies closer!!! So do the Mafia!
But the best one, is a God-father saying from that film, when Marlon Brando slapped his son (Sonny I think) and said NEVER LET YOUR ENEMIES KNOW WHAT YOUR THINKING! (I wrote that with two pieces of cotton wool in my mouth), because he blurted out in a meeting with the Turk gangster, the families intentions! (God I better take these cotton wool pads out! LOL) Now the poor hare could not possible know what was happening! Yes definitely a Psychopathic hound!

Just checked on the link above and the Godfather says Never let anyone outside the family know what you're thinking, and I thought it was the NEVER LET YOUR ENEMIES KNOW WHAT YOUR THINKING! quote I’ll have to dig that film out have it somewhere.

Sparky - I have never seen any of the Godfather movies - except for the scene where Appolonia gets blown up in the car. Every time the movie is on - it's that scene that I catch and then I never watch the rest of the movie. :-D The Hound is psycho and no wonder for the Hare's puzzlement!
Kate - yes - I'd prefer the G-rated analysis myself. Men. Always taking the conversation elsehwhere....

I better explain the cotton wool in the mouth then, no one socked me there! LOL For those who have not seen the film . It just every time I think of the Godfather and his puffed up cheeks like a hamster, he must have padded them out for his gruff gangster voice!

tshsmom - it is the truth. Hope everything is settling down for you. If you're anything like me it hasn't but we can always hope!
Sparky - Paddy is quite good at imitations. He does a great Irish accent AND a Limey one too! He also does Indian, Brooklyn, and of course the Godfather. He does a lot actually, and quite well. :-)
AOW and Alix - I keep hearing nothing but bad news about Islam. It's freaky. I have found one moderate Muslim - she is on my sidebar and I adore her.

I have a go myself at accents I don’t have to travel to hear them, all the world is here in London! Paddy and me could start a voice over agency. LOL Can Paddy do Columbo the detective I think he was great! “Er just one more question sir” as he pops back in the room for the umpteen time! LOL
He's a little rusty on Columbo - when he tries it he sounds like Reagan. LOL. We haven't seen that show in ages. My mother and I loved to watch Columbo do his stuff on the bad guy.
