Did Michael Ramirez Get it Right?

I think that he did. Especially with the NY-23 election, a message was sent loud and clear. The Republican Party - the party that is SUPPOSED to represent conservatism in America - has fallen down on the job. In fact, I have had a problem with the GOP ever since they begged me to vote for Arlen Specter over Toomey. Dede Scozzafava in New York pulled an Arlen Specter, and she was quick to do it.

Although the media and leftists like to paint conservatives demanding their party back as 'extremists', they are wrong. The party went off the rails a long time ago and no - conservatives are not going to follow or finance them in their errant way.

I have heard leftists screech about big spending Republicans under Bush, and now that they've finally noticed that conservatives don't like big spending Republicans - they screech that we are extemists.

Scozzafava was no 'moderate'. Scozzafava was a eugenics prize winning, union loving, universal health care supporting, high taxing whack job. She was farther left than the Democrat who ended up winning.

Will the GOP leadership listen? If they don't, they will continue to lose.

Yeah, Rev. What's with all this 'moderate' crap anyway? One point - we're not talking 'moderate' when was talk about Scozza or Specter. Another point - the republican party is much more inclusive than the democrat party. Have you seen the way that the democrats eat their own when they don't toe the line??!

The GOP will just keep losing with the democrat lite stuff. They will lose themselves into oblivion if we don't take the party back to representing conservatives

Bottom line you will still have to appeal to moderates and indies to win elections, that's what Reagan did (but then too Reagen was helped by the policies of the worst President in my lifetime). Way too much infighting going on in the GOP and that doesn't help either. I say Mike Huckabee is the answer!

Conservatism is not radical right wing - no matter how much the left screams about it. Reagan was no squishy fence sitter. Reagan was a solid conservative on most issues - and if the Republican Party doesn't understand that, then they will continue to lose.

I disagree on Huckabee. We have our disgreements. I consider myself a conservative - yet I'm sure that some of your friends on the left would consider me a right wing racist. Huckabee is not a strong conservative candidate - plus he does nothing to energize the solid conservative base.

If Huckabee is the choice of the Republican Party - they will once again lose. Huckabee is McCain.
