Small Town Stuff

We are very excited about the upcoming festival in a nearby community called Terre Hill. You just can't find stuff like this in Philly...

* Chainsaw Carving

* Outhouse Racing

* Mountain Man Encampment

* Skydive Bingo

Along with pie eating contests, a good old fashioned tug-of-war, rides and games - amongst other things.

Totally different mindset out here. It's like living on a different planet. I love it.

I raced an out house once, but it beat me!

Hope you and yours had a great 4th of July holiday.

LOL. We had a nice 4th - a bit wet but that's okay. Thanks, Abouna.

Thank-you for your 4th of July greetings and I hope you had fun too - the festival looks like good fun!
You're lucky to be where you are now!

Thanks DC. We feel very happy here, although the girls are still doing some adjusting.

Glad things are working out for you after your move out of the city

Thanks Zendo Deb. It has been quite an adjustment, but we're getting used to it. Already I *HATE* the traffic when I drive into the big city - I was sort of immune to it while I was living down there.

That picture - for me - is a perfect example of what good old-fashioned American know-how and ingenuity is capable of! LOL.

Small-town life has its advantages. In fact, some of the best vacations Mr. AOW and I have had were spent in small towns.

But I admit that I've never heard of an outhouse race.

As I started reading your post I wondered what was "outhouse racing." Then I scrolled down. Pretty funny.

Tweetey, our 4th of July was great, except that the fireworks in town on the 4th were canceled due to rain. We saw fireworks on the 6th, but Troll was working on that day. :-(

AOW, I hadn't heard of an outhouse race before, either. Or skydive bingo.

I agree, Mr. GG. We weren't there for it, so I'm still wondering how it works.

CA - lol!!

Thanks Skye. It is a huge adjustment. I'll tell Troll to call you soon.

Henry - the race the occurred as a part of these festivities did not involve rockets on the outhouses. LOL. I just thought the picture was pretty hilarious.
