10th Carnival of Homeschooling
If you click on the title you will be transported to Palm Tree Pundit, a homeschooler in the state of Hawaii. She is hosting the Carnival this week and it is with pride and humility that Grizzly Mama sees one of her entries there. It is an entry that takes a look at one of Cubed's excellent essays. The theme of the Carnival is 'Spring has Sprung' and there are many fascinating entries from homeschoolers across this beautiful land of ours. The range of subjects explored is gimongous. (I know - it's not really a word.)
Did I hear you say that you wanted to know more about homeschooling in America? I thought so! Follow the link. The wit and wisdom of exceedingly well spoken and intelligent persons will be your reward.
The next carnival will be hosted by The Common Room. Click here for information on making a submission.
God Bless America and Homeschool Your Children.

Three cheers for Monica -
Hip Hip Hooray!
Hip Hip Hooray!
Hip Hip Hooray!
I'm glad that post is getting even more attention.
And PS - I like your last line - it should be your trademark end tag for now on.
WOW! LOTS of good reading there! Thanks for the link.
I agree with Kate, Monica make it your trademark!
You are spoilt for choice in the amount of Home Schooling Blogs and self-help groups in the States, it is quite a phenomenon there.
I believe it is a great idea despite the critics who say that home school children miss out because they don’t get to socialise as much as public/state school kids. There is no real evidence of this!
It’s is a pity there is not more publicity here in the UK about it, and even tax breaks, parents who have the ability could do a better job of educating kids, than many of our factory foddering schools!
Long may Home Schooling reign in the States, I just wish it could be exported here in some wholesale way to break the brainwashing monopoly that goes on in many of our second rate left-wing education establishments!
You just never ever hear about it in the UK! You don’t know how lucky you are to have this choice, on second thoughts I think perhaps you do.
I liked Algebra, cooking the chicken example for the kids, from Barbara Franks but I still think many of us would keep prodding the chicken, to see if it was cooked! But if you master the algebra equation you can sit back and read a book or newspaper with your feet up! LOL
Thanks Kate - I seem to be using that last line a lot lately don't I? LOL! Perhaps you are witnessing my end tag evolve!
Tshsmom - there are some really great entries and I have JUST now finished reading them all. Wow. I laughed - I cried - I did math.
Sparky I think it started out small here many, many, many years ago. It has turned into quite a big movement with many different choices available to parents. The first families - they fought hard to make it legal in all 50 states and we are reaping the benefit of their hard work. God bless them. There are still quite a lot of strange misconceptions about homeschoolers but more and more people are understanding it. I hope that it grows in the UK. In Germany parents are being put in jail for homeschooling. We are very blessed to be citizens of the United States of American that is true. I thank God every day for it. I tell the girlies too - thank GOD that you were born in America!! Thank him every day. (I guess I should say Him shouldn't I?)
I liked the algebra for cooking chicken too. Didn't understand it. LOL! Give me a few more years of reviewing and I'll be there in no time!
We often forget about the homeschool pioneers. Some of them wound up in jail too. :(

Oh Monica don’t start me on trying to work that one out LOL
I remember it involves cross-referencing multiply both side and dividing to find that missing piece of the equation, i.e. the time. But I would have to seek out a GCSE maths book here to revise. But I’m not going to, they always have the cooking time on the package of the meat and chicken in the supermarket, unless you buy direct from the butcher! LOL
Thank you Dagney!
Here is a sonnet written by a homeschooler.
I submitted the poem.
I love it AOW. You submitted it to the Carnival? I think it's great.
