I'm jumping on board the Miers bandwagon.

Click on the title of this entry to see some compelling arguments for doing so. Mike at Mike's America has some interesting comparisons to make.

Also per Mike's blog:

"The Truth Laid Bear... that quirky blogger ranking system has another set of parameters to which bloggers FOR Miers should pay immediate attention.
TLB is tallying up pro-Miers and Bush undermining anti-Miers crowd. If you are registered in the TTLB Ecosystem, simply insert the phrase: "I support the Miers nomination" into one of your posts (quotes not required and any formatting will do)."

So here it is - Grizzly Mama making a stand. LOL!

I support the Miers nomination.

UPDATE

Of course we all know by now that Miers has withdrawn. As I said in the comments over at Mike's America I am not happy about it - and I am worried about what this means for future nominees. We learn in life to choose our battles wisely. I do not believe that the conservatives who chose this battle chose wisely.

Onward and upward with the great democratic experiment. God bless America.

WAY TO GO MONICA!

The next time some left wing moonbat accuses you of being nothing more than an echo chamber for the far right, you can stand up and say NOT SO FAST MOONBAT!

Here's proof, not that any was needed, of your independent thinking in the face of what is falsely touted as a majority conservative viewpoint.

I SUPPORT THE MIERS NOMINATION!

Does that mean I'm a RINO too, now?

:-)

You mean the radical right hasn't unleashed RINO abuse on you yet?

Well, now that you put up the target by declaring yourself, it's only a matter of time.

I'm suprised, but not terribly so.

This is an issue that simply doesn't break down into right against left. If anything, I have the most laudable RINO credentials here (well, actually, not really because I'm not a Republican in name, either), but I'm against. I think it all depends on what you support/don't support her for.

Conservative, I think, don't have to fear she won't be conservative. But they should fear that she'll be a mediocre justice that fails to frame future debates for the decades to come. That, IMO, is the difference between Scalia and Thomas.

Our beleaguered Republican, Mike - from Mike's America, has been accused of being a RINO by other Republicans over his disagreement with them about Miers. It's ridiculous, of course!

I understand your points Steven. Believe me - I've been reading nothing but negatives about the woman from many sources.

There are many reasons I agree with Mike on this one. One (and just one) of the reasons is that I don't trust my Republican representatives (who are the majority but have yet to act like it) to have the balls to back someone like a Janice Rogers-Brown. Do you think they have it in them to fight the fight necessary? Neither do I. I'm not happy about that but that is what we have to work with here.

I don't think that Ms. Miers is a bad choice when comparing her to justices that have become strong conservative voices now on the Supreme Court.

Remember - we're all afraid of another Souter. That's what we're trying to avoid here. I don't think Miers will be another Souter. I also think Miers has got more on the ball than some who are spouting terrible things about her. She's not a stupid woman that is for sure.

Steve: Take another look at Clarence Thomas before he rose to the court. He grew up near me in Savannah Georgia.

Here's the cliff notes for a great bio:

And of course you already read the Hegehog reports take on his pre-Supreme Court judicial career:

And if you have not already done so, take the comparison test with previous nominees:

O.K... Homework is over for now, but there will be a quiz... so study up.

Monica: already getting YES votes linking over from your post.

It's GRIZZLY POWER!

I SUPPORT THE MIERS NOMINATION!

P.S. Do you think they sell RINO masks for Halloween?

I haven't seen any RINO masks and it's a damn shame that it's too close to invent some and start selling them. It's a frigging gold mine.

LOL!

Monica: I'll split the royalties with you if you sew up the first design...

Oh... and Steve: Do you have a friend at Kirk and Ellis in Chicago??? Another NO vote...

Not to worry... conservatives by three to one at my poll say Miers is PEACHY KEEN!

I SUPPORT THE MIERS NOMINATION and

LONG LIVE THE THEOCRACY!!!

Only one problem with that idea Mike --- I can't sew.

I tried and tried. Can't do it.

Just when you think it's safe to go back in the water... A Gaffuk shows up!

Monica: You won't believe this one: I'm getting lectured on Miers and the nature of conservatism by a 13 YEAR OLD KID!!! And I'm NOT talking about Gaffa!!

Oi Vey!

It is a bummer.

God Save the Republic.

I don't think out Republican representatives have any leadership ability in them. We're stuck with 13 y/olds lecturing us.

Gaffe - yes it appears that the whack wing of our party has pushed Miers out. I do not regret supporting her. Ya win some and ya lose some - but atleast we made a stand.

That's right - you win some and you lose some. Best thing to do is pick yourself up and carry on. Looks like Mike is pretty cut up about it. It's like cats fighting in a bag on the Republican blogs.

Gaffa - I can't believe what I'm reading on some of those blogs. It sounds so similar to MoveOn.org but coming from my own party. It's irritating!

*sigh*
